Crystals, gemstones, and humans have been around and together since the ancient times. So, it is no wonder they go hand in hand with one another. Many people brush crystals and gemstones off as “just rocks” and don’t give them a second thought.
Have you ever stopped to look closer at a stone on the ground, collected seashells on the beach or even used them as accents around your home? Then you know there is much more than meets the eye. With our new wave in the modern, technology rich era, we have learned to use crystals in exciting new ways.

Actually these fascinating objects are integrated into several things we use on a regular basis, often without even realizing they are even there! When you think about the fact that there is 1,500 miles of crystals at the Earth’s core it seems crystal clear we must acknowledge their effects on us.
These unpretentious gems have a big impact
Here are a few of them to help get you started on your discovery of which crystals work best for you. If you have ever given them a second glance or saw a piece of jewelry with a gem you liked, think about what drew you in. Was it the color? The name? Perhaps you liked the shape or description of it? Some crystals just call to us individually. Each crystal that is formed will have a unique appearance, size, shape, and weight is going to depend on the element that has changed and how it was formed, making them truly are as unique are we are.
Let’s get started with the basics…
Sea Salt (Pink Himalayan) – Cleansing
Is there a mineral that’s more essential to our health and survival than sodium? Everyday we use and consume this in one way or another. Beyond its many health benefits, salt is a powerfully cleansing and protecting crystal.
Simply wash your hands at the end of the day with a pinch of the pink salt. Remember to think clearly about what you’re cleansing away as the water washes over you. Keep in mind all the stored sunlight within it that you can use to find your own ‘light’. Each day we interact and touch others, in the process we pick up traces of excess energies that are not of our own. Washing your hands with this crystal will cleanse you simply when you need it most.
Did you know? Himalayan Pink salt is still extracted from mines by hand, according to long-standing tradition, and without the use of any mechanical devices or explosive techniques.
Black Obsidian – Worry Stone
Black Obsidian helps with emotional and negative energy release. How many days have you had where stress starting creeping in and distracting you? We’ve all been there and that’s why this stone is excellent for grounding and creating balance.
To use this as a worry or palm stone look for one that is flat and generally oval-shaped and polished. While in your hand rub or press against the stone as overall this stone encourages individual growth and so we can fully function our daily lives. I keep mine in my handbag at all times and each for it as needed. Sometimes it’s just nice to know it’s there.
Did you know? Acupressure, the process of rubbing the stones between your fingers or in our palms, stimulates the numerous nerve endings. This also activates pressure points releasing endorphins for a naturally calming and euphoric effect.
Amethyst – Sleep
If you’re frustrated with your lack of sleep or are tossing and turning check under your pillow. If you haven’t been placing this crystal under it you’ve been missing out.
Place Amethyst with you at nighttime to help soothe stresses, transmit energies into mental clarity and assist with dream recollection. It is a natural tranquilizer, meaning your anxiety and stresses can be soothed when having this stone in your presence whether under your pillow, in the room, or on your night stand.
Did you know?Amethyst is a stone that has been used for centuries to represent royalty, strength, clarity, and protection. Artist Leonardo da Vinci wrote that amethysts enhance intelligence and protect against evil thoughts.
Nature has provided
Crystals are a way to assist with imbalances of our physical, mental, and energetic body through their calming, empowering, and supportive energies. Rituals throughout time have included crystals, gems, stones and minerals to help individuals align with their true selves. Personally I always have rose quartz on hand as it’s my preference in calming stones.
They say big things come in small packages and that rings true for most crystals. Their size allows them to be placed in rooms as decor, worn in jewelry, or carried with you daily to provide strength, calmness, and tranquility.
