You have a young soul!

Your go to impulse may be to let your inner child out! You enjoy creating and exploring and have probably been described as 'young at heart'. You are very curious, quite adventurous and noticeably positive in your views. The primary focus of young souls is survival and independence. Life for you is still a riddled that needs to be solved. Things in life are still fresh for you and the joy and amazement you exhibit most days show that. You love ferociously and fearlessly, and you are a great friend to all of those around you. Take note: These souls are generally concerned about worldly success – fame, glory, wealth, and riches. This doesn't mean they're shallow, they're just experiencing all that life has to offer on one of their first go-rounds here.

You may also tend to gravitate toward alternative and holistic medical care. Old souls all over this world share an experience of emptiness and a longing for a feeling of 'home'. Dream A BIG Dream

As we age, there seems to be skepticism about our dreams and if we’ll accomplish them before we age too much. How many of us have heard someone say:

  • “Well, I’m too old for that.”
  • “If I haven’t done it by then, I won’t do it now.”
  • “Maybe later I’ll get to it. Too much on my plate right now.
  • “I’m way too tired and I’ve done far too much.”

The older we get, the harder people seem to think it is to accomplish their dreams or even have little goals. (And really, that’s kind of sad if you think about it!) Even though some believe age is only a number on your cake, that notion can be hard to shake.

Why is this such a common thought amongst people as they age? Why do people think that time is a factor for dreams? Is this simply because time is the biggest factor to us accomplishing something or is it just another excuse holding us down from something we’ve always wanted to do?

I don’t want to sound incredibly cliché here, but there is no better time…start now!

If age has been a huge deciding factor into whether you get started on or attempt accomplishing a goal for yourself don’t let age stop you. Take an actual moment to think about what would happen if you stopped letting that notion hold you back from dreams you’ve always wanted to accomplish.

Comic genius Stan Lee created his first superhero team in 1961 when he was 39 years old. Julia Child did not even eat French food until she was 36. But she loved it so much that she studied the cuisine fanatically until she had enough knowledge to host The French Chef at 51. Mark Twain published “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” at 49

It’s the power of our own mind and perspective on age which puts our dreams on a bucket list instead. (Not that a bucket list is a bad thing, I have one myself.)  But we don’t have to put our dreams on the bucket list of things we might accomplish one day.

  • Is there a book or story you’ve always wanted to write? Get it started! Now! Go ahead, you have permission to get that creativity out into the world!
  • Is there a place you’ve always wanted to explore? Make those plans to get there, even if it’s next year or five years away!
  • Has there been a type of food you’ve always wanted to try? (Yes! This can be a dream for some out there!) Put on that bib! Food contest anyone?
  • What about that one person you’ve always wanted to meet? Stop being scared and just introduce yourself already!
  • What about owning a home or going after that career you’ve always wanted? It’s waiting for you, make a plan and follow that trail.
  • How about the family you dream of starting? What’s holding you back?
  • Want to learn an instrument or how to sing? Tons of people do this!
  • Go to a concert of your favorite band?
  • Heal a past relationship or heal yourself?
  • Travel to a new place?
  • Visit an old friend or family member? They’ve probably been waiting for you.
  • Party hard or explore what you’re capable of? You definitely can do this!

All of these things look small on paper but can feel BIG to some of us as we get older. However, the further we get into our aging process, the more we tend to think skeptical thoughts about if we’ll get that chance:Maybe I’ll die before I get to try _____. I don’t want to hurt myself or do something wrong. Maybe it’s not meant for me anymore. Maybe this, maybe that.

You have the power inside of you to allow yourself to take that chance, instead of living on ‘maybes’.

Life has more to offer us in every second than every moment of regret. We waste time worrying instead of grabbing that dream–no matter how large or small of a dream. Living life to the fullest may require some growth, but taking our chances at something we’ve always wanted to try, will give us a huge chunk of life(time) growth under our belts. Sometimes all we have to do is stop getting in the way of ourselves and start pushing ourselves from the inside out, ever so slowly, and encouraging that experience to happen.

Let me get you started with a nudge. Do it for you and follow your heart and start believing in yourself. Just try it, you might be surprised at what you can do at your age! Do it for your soulrenity!

I’ve been described as an extrovert all my life but until recent years didn’t start to notice it as a real part of myself. A part that I have found I can’t “turn off”. With being the one in my social circle who plans most of our activities, likes being the center of attention (yep, usually), and acts with gusto before thinking things through with every little detail, I can finally say it…

I’m trying to get you out of your shell because I want you to enjoy life to the fullest!

Now, I know that won’t work for everyone but as an extrovert being social is as easy as breathing air. My persuasions to get you out and doing stuff, talk to people, see ‘all the things’, doesn’t mean I don’t like who you are. I just can’t help but see the world through my eyes. Sometimes that can be a good or bad thing but there’s always good intentions behind it. I feel energized after social interactions and recharged instantly in a large group of people. I know that for most introverts that is actually the opposite and can drain them or make them feel ‘worn out’.

Unique and opposite

Why are extroverts and introverts so incredibly opposite and unique and can one become the other?

We all exist on the same spectrum of social interactions, but where exactly on that spectrum makes all the difference. In an early 2000’s study, conducted by the University of Amsterdam, scientist poked a little further into brain scans of self-proclaimed intro/extroverts

The big difference? Dopamine.

The ‘feel good’ drug we naturally produce when happy. What they found was that extroverts may be possibly be using their dopamine systems differently! Our brains read differently than introverts for most activities. They were defined as more adventurous, more social, and they were more responsive when the reward/risk center was increased (much like when you gamble and win).

Introverts may actually find themselves less likely to want to be in an ‘overstimulating’ situation. Parties, clubs, social functions, hiking a new mountain, or even trying a new hobby? Not introverts. All of this ties back into genetics as our genes shape an develop our brains. This backs up the theory that genes that control dopamine function can predict personality differences.

What’s happening to our brains?

Analysis of the imaging data showed how the brain activity differed between extroverted volunteers and introverted ones during gambling. When the gambles they took paid off, the more extroverted group showed a stronger response in two crucial brain regions: the amygdala and the nucleus accumbens. The amygdala is known for processing emotional stimuli, and the nucleus accumbens is a key part of the brain’s reward circuitry and part of the dopamine system. The results confirm the theory – extroverts process surprising rewards differently.

Cognitive Brain Research

Think of it this way, if you keep taking risky/adventurous chances or putting yourself in those situations and it works out well for you, then you have no reason to think negatively of that behavior.

You will keep seeking out situations that give you that exciting feeling of the unfamiliar and novelty because it feels good. Being highly sensitivity to rewards just keeps us extroverts coming back because our preferences are shaped by the way our brain responds to outside stimuli.

As with anything, our brains still remain the most complex part of our entire bodies and we are constantly learning new and exciting things about it each day. We’ve barely began to scratch the surface on understanding what cases and defines ‘personality’.

Is it encoded?

So, do I think extroversion is encoded? I’d have to say at this point, given the collective and most up to date research, it seems it is encoded.

Does that mean introverts can never experience life as an extrovert? Absolutely not and in a future writing I’ll touch on just how to fake it till you make it, just when needed, so you too can enjoy some of that extroverted energy. Until then, feel free to say, “I’m an introvert, it’s in my DNA” whenever you want to get out of any ‘extroverted’ heavy situations.

Avoid Awakening Awkwardness

Being awake. Waking up. An awakening. The Universe showing itself to you. The truth. Reality.

All of these terminologies refer to an event that most of us haven’t experienced or are curious about experiencing. But for those of us that have gone through this experience, it’s not as easy or fulfilling at the beginning stages.

If you’ve been going through a spiritual awakening process it’s hard to convey all of the small, large, and intricate details of ‘waking up’ simply– nor is it easy to cope with.

Here are five possible steps that honor a simplified view and get your foot in the door of a healthier growth process if you’re traversing the beginning stages of an awakening.

Take the time to learn how to understand how your mind, body, and soul interweave.

Without an understanding of how vital each piece of us is to balance out the state of consciousness, the harder it’ll be. Learn to differentiate thoughts through meditation to connect with your mind. Connect with your body through movement. Connect to your soul through practice of bringing all three together.

Emotional intelligence is key to breaking the barriers of our mind when it wants to defend itself against this new state of being.

If we don’t fully understand our own present state of emotions or how we feel in detail, we miss the intricate details of how our current state is being affected by our emotions and programmed cycles of the mind. This greatly affects the vibrations of your frequency and holds us in a lower state of vibration. The lower the energetic frequency, the harder it is to cope.

Be honest. When our reality breaks apart and a new understanding presents itself, the fear of being torn down by society’s standards and lying about the experience causes pain and lower frequencies to run rampant. Let yourself be free and grow unheeded. Be authentic and unafraid. Fear holds us back from connecting within and feeling from the inward–outward. Do not be afraid to face the shadow and uncomfortable-ness. You’re becoming whole.

Remove yourself from the distractions. Be in silence. Listen to the earth. Dance with the joy in your heart in quiet. We have to give ourselves the freedom to explore without any kind of distractions from our modern age. Even if it’s only 15 minutes a day or 3 weeks in solitude. Figure yourself out.

Explore love and it’s many different expressions in reality. Explore all that you’ve wanted to learn and cycles of the mind that kept you from learning about the frequency of your heart. Reprogram and reassess your place in the universe and how connected you are to every living being. Find yourself within the simple and the complex. Explore everything and discover how love holds all together within the authentic experience of consciousness. There is no more time for fake–this causes pain.

Grow.

Live.

Learn.

Love.

Explore.

Find your soul-renity.
